Before You Travel
Before you depart for an overseas trip or holiday, there are a number of things you'll need to sort out. Here is a check list of items to consider to ensure your travel plans are a success.
1. Booking flights is often the first step with any travel plans and it pays to arrange this early to get seats on the best flights.
2. Next, accommodation will be important. Whether you need an apartment or hotel room, you need to factor in the board basis, the property's location and its reputation.
3. Transfers may be important, if you need to get to and from your accommodation. If you're booking a package deal, this may be included. Otherwise, you may consider asking your hotel to book a car.
4. Alternatively, one option that people take is to hire a car for them to pick up at their destination airport. That way, they can get to the hotel themselves and have transportation for the duration of their stay.
5. You'll also need to decide how to get to your departure airport here in the UK. One of the most popular and cost-effective options is to use airport parking. As well as putting the responsibility of getting to the airport on time in your own hands, it also means your car will be there when you return.
6. The next thing you'll need to sort out is your travel insurance. You may decide to arrange this as part of the package deal, alternatively, there are a number of other providers to buy it from.
7. If you have flights departing in the early hours, you may also want to consider airport hotels. That way, you only have to cross the road to check-in ahead of your flight.
8. Once those elements are sorted, you can then start to get things sorted for your holiday. You may need to get some new clothes, so you're prepared for the weather.
9. If your suitcase isn't up to the journey, you may also want to consider buying a new one.
10. If you're going somewhere sunny, having plenty of sun cream will be vital in making sure you don't damage your skin.
